Join Active Mind Race Camps™ at the Portland Marathon. Recognized by Competitor Magazine as the “Best Marathon in the North West” and by Runner’s World as “a Top 10 marathon for First Time Marathoners”, the race will see it’s 42nd running in 2013.
Active Mind Race Camps™ will enable you to be in the best possible frame of my mind for your Portland Marathon – our systematic and developmental sessions will provide a personalized step by step psychological preparation program for the race, instill positive self-beliefs and create a clear vision of how you choose your race to unfold. Elite athletes have been trained by sports psychologists for years to perform at their best; now you have the opportunity to learn their secrets in a structured and inspiring way. Armed with this information and vision, you are set for the most positive race experience in Portland you have ever enjoyed!
The certified course traces a route that embraces the many faces of this beautiful and friendly city. It includes the scenic riverfront, historic Old Town and various residential neighborhoods. Runners are treated to broad panoramas of the entire city the waterfront, a 3-mile bluff on the east side of Portland, and a dramatic view and crossing of the St. Johns Bridge, one of the most beautiful suspension bridges in the world.
Please note this camp is available for both Marathon and Half Marathon runners in Portland!
The Active Mind Race Camp™ at the Portland Marathon is located at the prestigious Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront on the banks of the Williamette River, near to downtown Portland. The camp starts at the race hotel on Thursday evening. We will open with introductions, an overview of the camp schedule, and dinner. Friday will include progressive sessions on negative self talk, self beliefs and thoughts, and guided visualizations. That days will also include sessions on flexibility and light easy runs, as well as rest and relaxation time and a possible course tour. Saturday will include packet pick up, and final race preparations. The Portland Marathon starts at 7.00 am on Sunday. The camp will close with a race review and honor session. Camp rate is $TBA and includes the following:
- All meals at Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront – Dinner each night on Thursday, and Friday; breakfast Thursday thru Saturday
- Psychological preparation sessions on Friday and Saturday – visualizations, focus, reframing to positive thoughts, replacing negative self talk, belief patterns, etc.
- Race course preview – subject to confirmation and weather
- Flexibility sessions Friday & Saturday
- Camp journal / workbook
- Camp technical tee shirt
- Note camp is limited to 20 places
- Payment is due in 2 installments – 50% of camp rate at time of booking; balance is due September 30 2012
